How do users feel about your redesign? What changes can be made to improve the conversion rate?
Understanding how users think and feel about your designs and products can be difficult and time-consuming. By asking users directly for their feedback, you quickly get an understanding of what’s working and where improvements can be made.
Step 1: Define your survey scope and goal
Begin by defining what it is you want to test - do you have a new homepage design, or are you looking for feedback on your account creation process? Before creating the questions, it’s best practice to reflect on what your goal with the survey is. For example:
‘I want to understand what users think about the account creation process, and how it can be improved’.
Having a survey goal helps you identify the most appropriate questions to ask, in order to get the information you need from your users.
What survey you should use depends on your goal - read more here.
Step 2: Understand your results by identifying themes
By using the AI powered summary, you get a summary of all your survey responses. Using the report, you can identify what the common themes are.
- What are themes? Themes are like patterns - they represent similarities between different survey responses. By assigning your survey responses with themes, you get an overview of the mood in your collected answers.
Once you have defined your themes, use the automated tagging option and create a tag for each. This will automatically tag every response with the theme it matches.
Now, you can filter your survey responses based on your defined theme!

Step 3: Analyze the results
Look at the responses and themes you’ve gathered:
- What is the general sentiment, and most common themes?
- Is the feedback in majority positive, negative or neutral?
- Are users offering suggestions on how to improve?
- Are there specific pain points which multiple users are highlighting?
Using the insights you’ve gathered, you can now make edits and updates based on your users feedback.
Step 4: Create a feedback survey
Once the updates are live, it’s time to gather new feedback. Create a feedback button on the page which you want to gather feedback from, for example, where the element you’ve updated is hosted.
Let’s say you’ve updated the account creation process, and you want to know what users think about the updates made. This means that you should add the button to the ‘create an account’ page.
- Want to gather general feedback about the experience on your site? Set up a feedback button that’s visible on all pages, so users can leave feedback at any moment in their journey.

Step 5: Analyze the feedback
Use the feedback you receive to understand what users think of your new updates, and if there are any further improvements needed. By using automated tags, you can easily quantify user feedback and understand what improvements need to be prioritized next.
