Before you begin
- If you prefer to install the Contentsquare tag without the plugin, follow our guide on manually installing the Contentsquare tag.
- It is free to install the plugin on self-hosted versions of WordPress (from wordpress.org).
- Sites created on wordpress.com will need a WordPress Business plan or higher to install plugins.
- You can use this plugin without a paid Contentsquare plan.
- Backup your WordPress installation before installing any new plugins to your site.
- If your WordPress site uses any caching plugins, you may have to clear your cache to make sure the Contentsquare tag is added to your site.
Installing the Contentsquare tag on your WordPress site
1. From the Get set up page in Contentsquare, click Install on a platform.
2. Click WordPress.
3. Download our WordPress plugin by clicking Get plugin.
A zip file will be downloaded to your computer.
4. From your WordPress Admin page, click Plugins.
5. Click Add new plugin, to access the Add plugins page.
6. Click Upload plugin, then click Choose file.
7. Select the zip file you downloaded at step 3, then click Open.
8. Click Install now, then click Activate plugin.
The Contentsquare plugin should now appear in your Plugins list in WordPress.
9. Click Settings, then click Contentsquare.
10. Find your site ID, paste the site ID into the ID field, then click Save changes.
You can find your site ID by returning to Contentsquare, where it will shown in step 3 of the Install with Wordpress page. You can also find it on your Sites page in the Id column to the left of the relevant site.
11. In the installation confirmation message, click to verify the installation.
You should see your live site appear and a verification successful message shown.
