User Tests let you collect qualitative data by having participants complete tasks on your website asynchronously, without a moderator.
Follow the steps in this article to build and launch your user test with Contentsquare.
1. Click New test or choose one of the templates shown below.
2. Create a welcome message.
Write a short description explaining what the test involves and what participants will be asked to do.
3. Enter the URL of your live website.
Enter the URL where participants should start the test.
4. Describe the task for your test.
Give your task a clear, descriptive name. Write detailed instructions explaining what participants need to do in detail.
5. Set up follow-up questions.
These questions will be displayed after the user completed their task.
Ask for feedback using the following question types:
- 1-7 rating scale
- Short text answer
- Long text answer
6. Write your thank-you message.
7. Select the number of participants.
Choose how many participants will join your test:
- 1-10 participants: Low confidence in results.
- 10-25 participants: Medium confidence in results.
- 25+ participants: High confidence in results.
8. Enter how many participants you need, then select the recruitment source and compensation offer.
Your recruitment source can be:
- Our participant pool (available on Pro and Enterprise plans): This includes access to over 200,000 potential participants. After selecting this option, you'll need to enter the compensation amount you'll offer eligible participants. You'll also need to indicate what participants you're looking for regarding demographics, personal details, education and work experience, mobile device, and whether to talk with new or past participants.
- Your own participants: Contentsquare handles scheduling and hosting and you'll receive an invitation link to share with your participants.
9. Add screening questions.
Participants will fill out these questions before qualifying for the task:
- Multiple choice, Single choice, and Text answers are available.
- For multiple and single choice answers, you can set if the participant must select the option or be screened out.
10. Preview the test.
Use the Preview option to experience the test as participants will see it.
The preview starts with any screening questions and moves to the tasks.
11. Click Start project.
