How to apply a new analysis context to your dashboard
1. Go to the Analysis Context at the top left corner of your dashboard and set your preferences to quickly apply filters to the widgets in your dashboard for a flexible analysis.
2. Now, your dashboards widgets' analysis contexts will be temporarily overridden. This means that whatever time period, device, and segment you initially selected for your widgets will change to the one you've just now selected.
3. You can intersect your dashboard segment with the widget segment (see in Segment Logic section below).
How to apply Segment logic
1. Click on the more options menu > select 'Dashboard settings'.
2. On the panel that opens, you can choose between the 'Override' or 'Intersect' logic (details below). You can decide to apply a logic to the current dashboard or to all your dashboards.
Override logic
The override logic is set by default. According to this logic, when you choose a segment in the Analysis Context, each segment in-widget will be canceled, and the analysis context segment will be applied to all widgets:
If you hover over the widget segment, you can see that the overridden segment will be stroked. To return to the initial settings of your widgets, disable the "device" or "segment" parameters in the Analysis context by clicking on the "x".
Intersect logic
According to this logic, when you choose a segment in the Analysis Context, it will be crossed with the in-widget segments. This means that both segments will be displayed in each widget through an “AND” condition between the Analysis Context segment and the widget segment.
Note: This logic only works for segments: when it comes to devices, the Analysis Context device will override the widget devices, as there can by nature be no intersections between devices.
Read more about sharing capability
As the logic is based at dashboard level, the logic will be shared with the shared dashboard. Thus, if you receive a dashboard with an intersection logic, you will be able to read it with this same logic. Only the dashboard owner is able to edit the logic.
How to zoom in on your data with shortcuts
To quickly identify the cause of abnormal behavior without leaving your current dashboard, you can use the shortcuts available in different widgets to focus on specific times or segments.
You can:
- Zoom in on time using the line chart.
- Segment behaviors based on paths with the funnel widget.
- Segment based on a session's characteristics using the table widget
Line chart widget
1. To focus on a specific point in time, click on the desired location on the chart for zooming in. Hovering over the line will display some details about your analysis context in that specific point in time. 2. The action menu will open by clicking on the line displaying the “Zoom to time” option.
Note: For hourly granularity, you can specify the expected time window for zooming in. 3. Once chosen, the Analysis context and other widgets will update to reflect the selected time window. |
Funnel widget
You can create a segment based on the flow of users going through a particular stage of the funnel. 1.Hover over the desired funnel stage and choose the 'Apply as a segment' option from the menu that opens. 2. Hovering over solid regions applies segments from converted sessions, while hovering over slightly shaded areas applies segments based on dropped-off sessions. 3. Upon selection, the Analysis context will update immediately with a segment that corresponds to the steps in the chosen funnel stage. Note: If the Analysis Context already had another segment applied then the new conditions would be added under ‘AND’ condition. 4. Optional. You can further review the pre-populated conditions and choose from the following options:

Table widget
You can also create a segment to gain a better understanding of session behavior based on a specific session attribute. 1. To do so, click on the '...' icon located next to the session attribute you're interested in (e.g., Country = US) and select the 'Apply as a segment' option from the menu that appears. Note: The segment can only be created based on country, city, and device groupings. The device will be applied under the 'Apply as Device' CTA. 2. Once the option is selected, the Analysis context will be instantly updated with a dynamically generated segment. This segment will have conditions that match the dimension used as a group by to configure the table widget and its preferred value. Note: If the Analysis Context already had another segment applied then the new conditions would be added under ‘AND’ condition. 3. Optional. You can further review the pre-populated conditions and choose from the following options:

Hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly data visualization
In the line graph chart, visualize your data hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly based on your analysis needs and frequency. This way you can follow the performance on your website closer, especially during intense commercial events such as Black Friday, Xmas, summer sales, etc.
To display hourly data on your line chart graph widget, select from one (1) to seven (7) days in the analysis context calendar. Above 7 days, you can select the daily and weekly options. Select more than 30 days to display monthly data.
How to compare devices, time periods, and segments
You can apply your filters along with comparison mode to follow trends and build segments on the fly.
1. Go to the Analysis context, and click to enable the 'Compare' toggle.
2. Select the elements you want to compare: Device, Period or Segment.
3. Click 'Apply'.
The blue data is the reference element, while the pink data is the element you compare it to. The “trend” triangle on single-value widgets shows a negative (red) or positive (green) evolution.
To stop comparing, toggle the 'Compare' button off in the Analysis context (for periods only) and click on 'Apply'. For devices and segments, click on the small 'x'.
