What is Text Search
Text search is a segment condition that allows you to filter sessions where users have seen a specific text string.
A text string is considered visible if its upper half is in the viewport for at least one second.
Text search enables you to search for:
-
whether users "have seen" or "not seen" a text string
-
on any page / specific page / pagegroup
Good to know before you use Text Search:
1. Text searches are retroactive.
2. You will need to create a predefined text string to search for numbers or special characters (for example, abc-def, 123xyz, or 404).
3. Predefined text strings that contain numbers or special characters begin tracking from their creation date. Predefined text strings that contain only pure text (no numbers or special characters) are tracked retroactively.
4. You can search for a text string for up to 31 days, with up to 2 text seen conditions in the Analysis Context.
5. Text strings are auto saved so you can access them faster for future searches.
6. We recommend you keep text strings searches to around 10 words to avoid time-outs.
Search for text either using the Analysis context.
What is predefined Text Search
Predefined text search is a text saved in the 'Predefined text strings' tab, in the Goals & Events module.
Predefined text searches are saved in two ways:
- Any new text searches are automatically saved (for up to 31 days)
- Predefined text strings saved directly in Goals & Key Events module
Go to 'Goals & Keys Events' to get started and access the 'Predefined Text Strings' tab.
In the 'Predefined Text Strings' tabs you can:
A) Create new predefined text strings. Click the 'New text string' button to enter and create your text string.
B) View the 'Tracking status' of predefined text strings (new auto saved searches expire of 31 days if not used).
C) Quantify a predefined text string (you will be redirected to Impact Quantification). Click the three-dot menu, followed 'Quantify'.
