Quantify a page group or a Journey
Shortcuts in Journey Analysis allow you to use the Impact quantification feature and see how a segment is performing on your website. Learn how it works in detail in this article.
Create a segment from this page group or from a Journey
Create segments from the Shortcuts panel in the same way as in Segments.
Open the shortcut menu and select 'Create a segment', then choose between two options:
- 'On this page Group': create segments from the Shortcuts panel in the same way as in Segments. See how to create Segments in the dedicated article.
- 'On the journey to this page group': This option allows you to create sequential segments to target users who have experienced a particular part of a journey.
Create a segment from this page group
- Open the shortcut menu and select ‘Create a segment’, then select ‘On this page group’,
- The name of your segment is auto-filled with the name of the page group you clicked. You can rename your segment anytime.
- Add your segment to Favorites by clicking on the star icon. It will appear in the segment list of your Analysis Context.
- Click on ‘Create’ or if you want to apply the segment directly in the Analysis Context, click on ‘Create and Apply’.
- Find the segment you have just created in the drop-down list of the created segments in your Analysis Context to use it in your Journey Analysis.
Create a segment from a journey in this page group
- Open the same shortcut as seen previously and select ‘on the journey to this Page group’ instead.
- The segment creation panel will open, with all pageviews automatically populated and sequentially placed. You can choose between creating a journey based on a ‘THEN’ or a ‘DIRECTLY THEN’ condition.
- You can either create that segment or create and directly apply it in the Analysis Context. This segment will automatically apply to the Journey Visualisation.
Learn more about Sequential Segments.
Create a Funnel from Journey Analysis
Note
The Funnel creation works only when looking at Journeys on the 'After group' tab. Please not that it is not available from the Reverse Journey mode.
You can create a Funnel from a selected Journey, allowing an easy setup and visualization of your paths:
- Toggle the 'Journey selection' button and highlight the path you’re interested in. Then, click on 'See as Funnel' in the right-side panel or right-click and select 'Create funnel from this journey'. A new tab will open with your Funnel.
- Select the path you want to visualize in Funnels by right-clicking on the page group's ring of the last step you're interested in, then click on 'Create funnel from this journey'. A new tab will open with your Funnel.
In both cases, a new tab will open with the Funnel module already set up with your journey's steps, ready for you to analyze.
Add to your dashboard, or create goals and alerts
Once your Journey Analysis is created, you can add a widget related to the page group to a Dashboard (or create a new Dashboard from this shortcut), see it in an existing dashboard (or create a new one) by clicking on the dedicated button. See 'Widgets in dashboards' for more details.
This shortcut also allows you to set goals, see 'Introduction to Goals & Key Events' and alerts, see 'How to create an Alert' for more details about both features.
Analyze a page group in other capabilities
From Journey Analysis, you can analyze the same page group by using the proper shortcut.
Right-click on a page group in the sunburst chart and click on ‘See in Page Comparator / Zoning Analysis / Session Replay’. With ‘See in Session Replay’ you can view replays of visitors who have viewed specific pages or followed a sequence of pages.
Note
This option is not available when Reverse journey is enabled.
View site exit details
By looking at site exit details, you can determine the devices and traffic sources that contribute most to a specific page’s exit. You can also access the Frustration score and analyze whether a high site exit is caused by a negative user experience.
Note
Frustration score is available on plans with Insights enabled. Speak to your Customer Success Manager for more information.
To access the exit details, highlight the journey to an exit page you’re interested in and right-click on the arc that represents your exit page and select ‘Understand site exit’:
- The panel’s top graph presents a breakdown of traffic sources for the selected journey. By default, it displays the 12 most common sources. To view a more detailed list, click ‘Show next 8 breakdown’.
- The pie chart on the right depicts traffic distribution by channel type, with each color representing the URLs users visited immediately prior to reaching your website.
- The bottom chart represents the device split for the selected journey.
