Shortcuts allow you to move seamlessly through your analysis and view key information at a glance.
Use Journey Analysis Shortcuts to:
- Show and edit the contained pages for a selected page group
- Create segments, goals, alerts, or widgets from a page
- See site exit details
- See a page in a different capability(Page Comparator, Zoning Analysis, Session Replay)
To display the Shortcuts menu options, right-click on any page in your Journey Analysis.
How to show all contained pages
1. Open the shortcut menu and select 'Show/edit page group'.
2. Check the analysis context conditions to make sure you are looking at the data for the right segment/time range.
3. Take a look at the page conditions and linked objects. Linked objects will display the goals and segments assigned to that specific page group.
4. See the most viewed pages for the selected time range, either based on the full page URL or displayed by path only.
5. Edit the page group or optimise the conditions of the page. 'Optimise conditions' CTA will be disabled if there is if further optimization of the page conditions is not required.
How to edit a page group
You can also use the shortcut menu to edit and update your mappings on the fly. By using this feature you can refine your page group condition, split a page group and include the undefined pages (single URLs) to an already existing page group directly from your journey visualization.
1. Open the shortcut menu by right-clicking a selected page group and select 'Show/Edit a page group'.
2. The mapping editing panel will open. To edit your page groups, you will be using either refine or split options.
- Refine option lets you change the composition of your page group. You can add or remove pages using different page conditions.
- Split option lets you edit page conditions in bulk to split an existing page group into several page groups.
How to refine pages
To refine your page group, you can: 1. Create or edit a page group by adding pages from the pool of undefined pages to this page group through different conditions.

How to define undefined pages
To define undefined pages, right-click on the grey circles in the Undefined pages section and select 'Show/edit page groups'. In the panel that opens, you'll find the list of Undefined pages linked to the Analysis context settings. To define them, click on the 'Create page group' CTA. You will be prompted to a page editor where you can use path/host/query/custom variable conditions to add the undefined pages to an existing group or create a new page group. Learn more about mapping conditions Click the arrow next to the summary details of the undefined pages to expand the list of undefined pages. Use this expanded list as a reference when creating your new page group.
After defining the page conditions, click on either 'Create page group' or 'Add to an existing page' to save your page settings. |
How to create segments
Create segments from the Shortcuts panel exactly the same way as in Segments. See how to create Segments from Segments in this article.
1. Open the shortcut menu and select 'Create a segment'.
2. The name is auto-filled with the name of the page group you clicked. You can rename your segment anytime.
3. You can add your segment to Favorites so you find it quicker in the segment list of your Analysis context.
4. Click on 'Create', or if you want to apply the segment directly in the Analysis context, click on 'Create & Apply'.
5. Find the segment you have just created in the drop-down list of the created segments in your Analysis Context to use it in your journey analysis.
How to create sequential segments
From Journey analysis shortcuts, you can also create sequential segments that allows you to target users who have experienced a particular part of a journey.
1. Right-click a step (starting from step 2) and click: 'Create a segment' and 'on the journey to this Page Group'.
2. The segment creation panel will open, with all pageviews automatically populated and sequentially placed. You can choose between creating a journey based on a 'THEN' or a 'DIRECTLY THEN' condition.
3. You can either create that segment or create and directly apply it in the Analysis context. This segment will automatically apply to the Journey visualization.
How to view site exit details
By looking at site exit details, you can determine the devices and traffic sources that contribute most to a specific page's exit. You can also assess the Frustration score and analyze whether a high site exit is caused by a negative user experience.

1. Highlight the journey to an exit page you're interested in and right-click on the arc that represents your exit page and select 'Understand site exit'.
2. The panel's top graph presents a breakdown of traffic sources for the selected journey. By default, it displays the 12 most common sources. To view a more detailed list, click 'Show next 8 breakdown'.
3. The pie chart on the right depicts traffic distribution by channel type, with each color representing the URLs users visited immediately prior to reaching your website.
4. The bottom graph represents the device split for the selected journey.
How to analyze a page group in other capabilties
1. Right-click on a page group in the sunburst
2. Click 'See in Page Comparator, Zoning Analysis or Session Replay.'
When you click 'See in Session replay' you can view replays of visitors who have viewed specific pages or followed a sequence of pages.
