IP less mode is available for CS Platform customers on AWS servers located in Europe.
Contentsquare stores all IP addresses except for the last two digits, so as to keep data anonymized. The IP anonymization sets the two last bytes of user IP addresses to zeros (ie: 127.0.x.x).
Contentsquare retrieves the IP only to compute geolocation (no more precise than the city). The IP is then anonymized and is never stored on Contentsquare servers or anywhere else.
The IP-less mode is an alternative data collection process in which Contentsquare removes the IP addresses right after collection.
What happens when IP-less mode is activated
Once IP-less mode is activated it will take 3 days to purge IPs from our systems.
Data collected prior to the activation of the IP-less mode remains stored in our database for 13 months. This will mean that you can use geolocation segmentation for all data collected before the IP-less option has been activated, for up to 13 months.
Data collected after the activation of the IP-less mode does not contain any IPs.
Bot identification based on IPs will no longer be available.
