This article explains how to use Impact with Error Analysis to assess the business and UX impact of a site error. You'll learn to review affected session replays, measure business impact, and identify patterns in the occurrence of errors. Understanding these impacts will help you prioritise issues, minimise revenue loss by quickly identifying significant problems, and enhance collaboration with product and support teams.
How to understand the significance of an error
1. In Error Analysis, find a relevant error, then click the right-arrow from the More column.
This opens the Error side-panel.
2. In the Continue your analysis section of the Error side-panel, click See Replays.
You'll be shown replays relating to the selected error.
3. Use the event stream to locate when the user experiences the error, then click Quantify.
This will open Impact, where you'll quantify the significance of the error.
4. In Impact, assess the available data to understand an error's significance:
- The Evaluation section provides the resulting financial impact or opportunity.
- Key metrics compares the selected error sessions against other sessions.
- Trends in user behavior demonstrates the evolution of sessions over time that feature the error.
