How it's calculated
Number of sessions where the zone was tapped divided by the total number of sessions.
How to interpret it
This metric is helpful to use when analyzing zones with content that can be tapped several times. No matter how many times the zone is tapped, this metric only counts one tap per user. This means that even if a user clicks multiple times on one zone, they will only count as one session.
Session level vs Screenview level
Tap rate (session level) looks at what zones users tapped on during their entire session, while Tap rate (screenview level) analyzes what zones users tapped on during a specific screenview.
When to use what metric?
Screenview level: How many users used the product filters at least once while on the category page?
Session Level: How many of the users who visited the cart page during their session tapped through to the checkout page?
On the homepage of a travel site, the Virtual Hotel Tour has a Tap rate (session level) of 2.76%, and a Tap rate (screenview level) of 2.27%
