This article guides you on how to manage Alerts notifications. With Alerts, you can monitor specific metrics using graphs, customize the method for receiving notifications such as through email or via Slack, and utilize the notification center to track triggered alerts.
Accessing the details of an alert
Visit your Alerts page to be presented with the Alerts list. From the Alerts list, you can access all the details of a specific alert by clicking on it.
Understanding the alert details page
The alerts details page allows you to follow the evolution of a notification in more detail and over time. Depending on the type of alert you created, you'll be presented with either an AI Alert graph or a Manual Alert graph.
By hovering your mouse over the graph lines, additional information will be shown. You can also right-click on a dot on the curve, then click See Impact, to discover how many sessions are impacted by the unusual variation.
Interpreting AI Alert graphs
- The yellow curve represents the realized value of your metric inside the confidence interval (light blue). If the realized value is above or below the expected value, you will receive an alert.
- The blue curve represents the confidence interval in which the expected values (blue dots) are realized, and which the algorithm considers to be 'normal'.
The blue curve won't be displayed until the confidence interval for the day of the incident and 2 days before reaching the day of the incident.
All values inside the confidence interval won't trigger any alert.
Note that the scope of the confidence interval changes according to the chosen level of sensitivity (low, medium, high). The higher the sensitivity level is, the higher you're likely to receive alerts. - The red curve represents the value realized outside the confidence interval. An alert will be triggered.
Interpreting Manual Alert graphs
The blue and the pink curve values depend on the time frame you defined when you created your alerts. Each time frame will be compared with the one before, with the pink curve representing the previous period.
Managing Alert notifications
When an unusual variation is happening on your website, the alert you set will trigger a notification. You will receive an email that links directly to the alert's details page for context. You can choose how you want to receive notifications about alerts when you create or edit an alert.
Receiving e-mail notifications
1. Click on the pencil icon to open the edit view for a specific alert.
2. In the Notifications section, click 'Edit'.
3. Toggle on 'Email'.
You can also add members of your team to the alert notification.
Email notifications are sent from “Contentsquare” noreply@contentsquare.com.
The email links work as follows:
- Click Quantify to be redirected to Impact and see how many sessions are impacted by the unusual variation for the last 8 days.
- Click on Open alert to visit the alert details page containing the alert graph.
Alerts email notifications (both manual and AI) are processed once a day (at night, depending on the timezone selected on the project) and sent every morning. They are listed together in one e-mail. You can still disable email notifications at any time in the settings tab.
