Page creation limits
When you create page groups inside a mapping, there are certain conditions you have to respect:
- The largest number of page groups inside a mapping is 300
- You can create up to 100 conditions in each page group
- There is a limit of 50 conditions based on a ‘contains’ operator that you can use within a page group, or 10 regexes
- One page can only be part of one page group inside a mapping
Why is there a page conflict?
Page conflict happens when you try to include the same page in two page groups (or more). To avoid incorrect page information in Journey Analysis or Page Comparator, you need to:
- Group pages according to their templates, for example, product pages or category pages together.
- Make sure you don’t include the same page in two page groups inside the same mapping.
What is conflict management?
We introduced a set of confirmation steps into the page group creation process to exclude conditions and help you avoid overlap. This way we make sure you get accurate and exclusive data when you compare two page groups (for example, on a journey analysis visualisation).
How does it work?
Let’s say you get a conflict message when adding pages to a page group.
In the step 1 of the confirmation flow, if you click on ‘Exclude from all’, we will manage the conflict for you. The page in conflict will be transferred from the existing page group ‘Product List’ to the new page group you want to create ‘Product’. Step 1 of the confirmation flow
In the step 2 of the confirmation flow, you can see how many pages will be transferred from the pool of 'undefined' pages and from the existing page group ('Page list') to the new page group ('Product'). Step 2 of the confirmation flow
As a result, the new page group (‘Product’) contains the page that was in conflict: The composition of the new page group
The existing page group from which the page was transferred (‘Page list’), has a new condition ‘does not match exactly’ the page in question:New condition in the existing page group
Have you reached the conditions limit?
Take a look at the example of a page exclusion on the screenshot above. When you move pages from one page group to another, the negative condition excluding those pages will be added in the initial page group. Remember that this action adds to the limit of the number of conditions (100) for each page group.
In consequence, you might get an error message saying that you have reached the allowed number of conditions (100) in a page group:
Optimize conditions of your page group thanks to Condition optimiser
How does the Conditions optimiser work? It reduces the number of complex conditions within the page group by removing, for example, the negative conditions ("does not match exactly") that were added through the page conflict management. As a result, the number of unnecessary conditions within a page group will be reduced which will improve your mapping's performance.
How to use it? Open the Page group detail page and click on "Optimise conditions" button.
