Note, at least 50% global replay sampling is required to use User Identifier (for Apps). Please contact your Customer Success Manager for details.
User identifier provides the ability to search for replays that belong to a specific user based on a unique identifier. Use this feature to investigate issues raised by or associated with specific end users and identify their root cause in Session replay.
What is the User Identifier?
A User Identifier is a value used as a unique identifier, commonly used on websites, apps, or online services, to identify a specific user.
For example:
- User name
- Account number
- Email address
Encoded data
The moment the SDK is collecting the User Identifier, we immediately encode the value using a hashing algorithm, before it is sent to our server.
Implement the User Identifier API
To collect the User identifier value, you will need to implement and use the Send User Identifier API:
How to use the User Identifier in Session Replay

In the Session Replay module enter the value for your search into the User Identifier search box. You can use multiple values for your search (for example: First Name, Last Name, email etc) however you can only use one value at a time in the search box.
2. Searches are space-sensitive and special character sensitive.
