Two-factor authentication (2FA, also known as MFA) is a security process in which users provide two different authentication factors to verify their identity. When enabled, users need an authenticator app in addition to their email and password to login.
This article walks you through how to activate 2FA and what happens when you turn it on.
Before you begin
- You must be an Admin user to enable 2FA for your account.
- 2FA is applied at the account level and affects all users.
- Once activated, all users (including admins) will be logged out within a few minutes and required to set up 2FA when logging in again.
- All users will need access to a mobile device with an authenticator app installed (such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or any app that uses QR codes).
- For customers with Pro/Enterprise plans, you can enable/disable MFA via the console, if preferred.
Note:
Only account Admins can enable/disable 2FA
How to activate 2FA
1. Click on your profile icon and click 'Account settings'.
2. Select 'Privacy and Security'.
3. Ensure you have a mobile device available (you will be prompted to set up 2FA).
4. Use the toggle to enable two-factor authentication.
5. Click 'Activate and log users out'.
All users, including yourself, will be logged out and will be required to set up two-factor authentication upon their next login.
How to log in with 2FA
1. Go to login.contentsquare.com.
2. Enter your email address and password and click Log in.
3. Select the authenticator app you'd like to use (Google Authenticator, Authy, or any other authentication application that uses a QR code) and click Next.
4. Open the authenticator app on your phone, retrieve the code, enter the code, and click Next.
5. Save your recovery codes in a safe place. Should you no longer have access to your authentication app and can’t generate a 2FA code, you’ll need your recovery codes to login.
