This feature requires Experience Monitoring available for Contentsquare customers on Enterprise and Growth plans and add-on to Pro plans.
Sense Chat integrates with Real User Monitoring (RUM) to help you understand how page speed and Core Web Vitals (the key metrics that measure web performance) impact user experience and business outcomes.
Use Sense Chat to ask questions in natural language to surface performance insights quickly. For example, you can identify which pages are slowest, understand how performance affects conversion rates, or pinpoint your biggest optimization opportunities.
Note
All plans can monitor Core Web Vitals. Pro and Enterprise plans also include the Real User Monitoring (RUM) capability, which provides specialized performance widgets and deeper analysis tools.
How to use Sense Chat for Web Performance analysis
Step One: Access Sense Chat
Click the 'Sense' icon in the top navigation bar to open the chat panel.
Note: Customers on Pro and Enterprise plans can also open Sense Chat directly while viewing your RUM data in the Real User Monitoring capability.
Step two: Ask questions about your web performance
Type your question into the message box and hit enter on your keyboard. Sense Chat will generate the insights.
When you ask a performance-related question, Sense Chat will automatically:
- Navigate to the relevant capabilities and load the appropriate data
- Configure time periods, displayed metrics, and analysis context based on your question
- Apply filters based on your question, such as device type, page groups, or date ranges
- Navigate to other Contentsquare capabilities when helpful—for instance, opening Page Comparator and pinning the slowest page at the top for easy comparison
Note
With the RUM capability (requires Pro and Enterprise plans): Sense Chat can also navigate directly to Real User Monitoring, load specialized performance widgets, and highlight key findings, such as flagging the slowest pages or highlighting the biggest performance opportunities in bubble charts.
Example questions to ask
Here are some questions you can ask Sense Chat to analyze your web performance:
Understanding Core Web Vitals
Use these questions to get an overview of your site's performance metrics.
- "Show me my Core Web Vitals performance"
Sense displays your LCP, CLS, and INP metrics. For Pro and Enterprise plans, Sense opens the RUM capability with dedicated performance widgets. Otherwise, Sense guides you to Core Web Vitals data in your available capabilities.
- "What's my LCP score over the last 30 days?"
Sense configures the date range and highlights your LCP trends.
- "Which pages have poor CLS scores?"
Sense filters to show pages with CLS scores above the recommended threshold.
Identifying slow pages:
- "Which are my slowest pages?"
Sense highlights pages with the longest load times.
- "Show me pages with the worst performance"
Sense navigates to capabilities that display page performance data. With the RUM capability, Sense opens a widget that ranks pages by performance.
- "What pages have LCP above 2.5 seconds?"
Sense applies a filter to show pages exceeding Google's recommended LCP threshold.
Finding performance opportunities:
- "Highlight my biggest performance opportunities"
Sense identifies pages or metrics where improvements would have the greatest impact. With the RUM capability, this includes bubble charts and opportunity widgets.
- "Where should I focus to improve web performance?"
Sense suggests areas based on performance data and business impact.
Connecting performance to business metrics:
- "How does page speed affect conversion rate?"
Sense shows the correlation between load times and conversion performance.
- "Show me the relationship between LCP and bounce rate"
Sense visualizes how LCP impacts user engagement.
- "Do slow pages have higher exit rates?"
Sense filters for slow-loading pages and displays their exit rates.
Step three: Refine your analysis
After Sense Chat provides initial results, you can continue the conversation to drill deeper:
- Ask follow-up questions to explore specific metrics, pages, or time periods.
- Request different segments or filters such as "Show me this for returning users" or "Compare performance for different regions."
- Ask Sense to explain its findings with questions like "Why is this page slow?" or "What's causing the high CLS on this page?"
- Request additional context by asking Sense to navigate to Session Replay, Journey Analysis, or other capabilities to understand user behavior on slow-loading pages.
