The total number of clicks on a zone.
It indicates the overall volume of user interaction and interest in a specific zone or element on a page.
How it's calculated
Number of clicks = Sum of all individual clicks generated on the zone across all selected pageviews
Note: This metric counts click activity, not unique users. A single visitor can generate multiple clicks on the same zone.
How to interpret it
Which zones generate the highest volume of total user interaction on the page? Is a high click volume driven by genuine content engagement, or does it indicate user frustration from repeated clicks on unresponsive elements?
This metric measures volume, not quality. A high number of clicks does not automatically mean the experience is effective; it means users interacted frequently.
The metric is most useful when compared with context.
- Compare the same zone across pages, devices, or segments
- Compare multiple zones on the same page to understand which elements attract the most interaction
- Pair it with conversion or exposure metrics to judge effectiveness, not just activity
- Use it alongside session replay or journey analysis to understand why users clicked
