This article explains how to save zones you create in CSQ Live to the Zoning capability in the Contentsquare platform. Once saved, your analysis is permanently stored and accessible to your entire team for ongoing tracking, reporting, and collaboration.
PII is not masked in snapshots captured using CSQ Live.
When capturing snapshots using CSQ Live, personally identifiable information (PII) is not masked. This differs from snapshots taken from Session Replay, where anonymization is applied as the data is captured automatically. Ensure you're capturing only the data you intend to, especially if it includes sensitive information.
Step One: Create zones on your page
Before saving, create the zones you want to track:
- Click the Zone button in the CSQ Live sidebar
- Select Single zones or Multi-zones
- Hover over elements and click the colored frames to create zones
- Repeat for all elements you want to save
Step Two: Save zones
Select Save at the bottom of the page.
In the window that opens, choose one of the following options:
- New analysis: Creates a new analysis with the screenshot and zones.
- Screenshot only: Adds the screenshot to an existing analysis.
3. Select Next.
New analysis
Select New analysis to save all your zones and a screenshot of the current page view as a new analysis.
Use this option when you are creating a new analysis or analyzing a page for the first time.
Screenshots only
Select Screenshot only to add a screenshot of the current page view to an existing analysis.
- Select Screenshot only.
- Select an existing analysis from the dropdown menu.
Select Next.
- The screenshot is added to the selected analysis. Your zones are not saved with this option.
Step Three: Open your saved analysis
After selecting Next, a success message confirms that your content was saved.
For a new analysis, select View zoning in the success message to open it in Contentsquare.

Your zoning analysis does not open automatically. Click the link in the success message, or open it manually in Contentsquare.
