Data Connect lets you automatically export your Contentsquare behavioral data; sessions, pageviews, user signals, and more, to your own data warehouse. Once connected, your data syncs once every 24 hours, giving you a constantly updated feed of experience data you can join with any other business data you hold.
This article walks you through activating Data Connect, configuring your warehouse, and managing your ongoing sync.
Before you begin
- You must be an Admin on your Contentsquare account to activate Data Connect and accept the Terms & Conditions. Non-admin users can view the Data Connect tab but cannot activate the feature. If you are not an admin, ask your Contentsquare account admin to complete the steps below.
- Data Connect is activated at the project level. Each project requires its own activation and its own Terms & Conditions acceptance.
- Have your warehouse credentials ready before starting Step 2. The specific values required depend on your chosen warehouse
Step 1: Activate Data Connect
-
In the left-hand navigation, go to Analysis Setup, then click Data Connect.
- Click Start now.
- A Terms & Conditions modal will appear. Check the "I accept the Service Schedule for Connect" box to accept and click Register.
Step 2: Set up your warehouse
-
On the Data Connect page, find your chosen warehouse and click Connect.
- Follow the dedicated setup guide for your warehouse:
- Complete the setup form and click Connect (or Next, then Connect, depending on your warehouse) to submit your configuration.
A confirmation screen will appear when setup is complete.
Step 3: Manage your data sync
Once Data Connect is active, you can monitor and manage your sync from within the platform.
Go to Analysis Setup > Data Connect > Data to:
- View the current sync status for each table
- Toggle event syncing on or off for custom events
Note
Built-in tables, Sessions, Users, and Pageviews are always synced by default and cannot be disabled. Custom events you have created can be toggled on or off by an admin.
Both admin and non-admin users can view sync data at any time. Only admins can enable or disable individual table syncs.

FAQs
Can I sync to more than one warehouse with Data connect?
Data Connect is configured on a per account basis. You can sync up to one of each destination (BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake, S3, Databricks). We do not support syncing more than one destination of the same type. For example, you cannot sync two different Redshift destinations within the same account?
I'm not an admin, can I activate and set up Data Connect?
Non-admin users cannot activate Data Connect or accept the Terms & Conditions. Ask a Contentsquare account admin in your organisation to complete the activation and set up.
Can I perform a retroactive data analysis?
Yes, you can sync up to 13 months of retained data.
What is the data sync frequency?
Once every 24 hours.
My sync has stopped or is showing an error
When a sync fails, Contentsquare automatically retries it several times. If it continues to fail:
- Check for any error messages shown in the Data Connect dashboard.
- Verify that the permissions you granted to Contentsquare in your warehouse have not been changed or revoked.
- Check for any schema conflicts or recent changes to your Contentsquare implementation.
