A screenshot is an image of your site’s page, used within heatmaps or zonings (Pro & Enterprise plans) to display overlays of your visitor data. The screenshot is generated using an actual user session captured via Session Replay. You can use pre-generated screenshots, or take new ones whenever you need (for example if you’ve changed a page’s design).
This article will walk you through the process of updating your screenshot, or taking a new one yourself.
Update or add a new screenshot
When viewing a heatmap or zoning click the screenshot icon, followed by ‘Add new screenshot’.
- Select a match from the pre-generated screenshots (if suitable), or select ‘View more screenshots’, or click ‘Take new screenshot’ to be re-directed to your site where you can capture a new one.
- When taking a new screenshot, your site will open in a new tab.
- Navigate to the page or area of your site that you want a screenshot of and select ‘Capture a new screenshot’, followed by ‘Save to Contentsquare’.
- Your new screenshot will be loaded onto your screen as a heatmap.
- Don't forget to save your updated Heatmap by clicking on the 'Save Analysis' button.
Note, if you have added multiple screenshots to your heatmap, use the arrows next to the screenshot icon to switch between each one.
Tip: To display a heatmap or zoning on an open menu, first open the menu on your site and then capture the screenshot.
Update screenshots per device type
Taking a new screenshot for one device won't update the screenshots across all devices. To update the screenshots of other devices, first select the relevant device type using the device selector (e.g. desktop, tablet, mobile). Then, repeat the screenshot update steps listed above for the device you've currently selected.
