Create your own widgets
You can create custom widgets to build a customized view of your data.
- In your dashboard, click '+ Add widget.'
- Follow the on screen 'Add a widget' steps to complete the set up:
- Name your widget
- Define the analysis scope. If you choose to measure the performance of your metric on a page group level, you'll have the option to select a page group on the fly or a page group from a mapping.
- Select a metric to measure and its trend (if more or less of the metric is better) (applies to single value, line chart and data table widgets).
- Select a device (applies to all custom widgets, except the image, and text widgets).
- Select or build a segment
Single value widget
The single value widget displays a single metric with trend indicators.
Recommended for:
- Key performance indicators (KPIs) like conversion rate, revenue, or sessions
- At-a-glance monitoring of critical metrics
-
Executive dashboards requiring high-level overview
Line chart widget
See the evolution of your metrics over time (you can display up to 8 metrics).
Recommended for:
- Tracking trends and patterns over time
- Comparing multiple metrics simultaneously
- Identifying seasonal variations or anomalies
Data Table widget
Display the top values of a metric grouped by categories. When creating the widget you can choose to group the data by Device, OS, Language, Screen Resolution, Country, City, or Browser.
Recommended for:
- Identifying top performers or problem areas
- Comparing metrics across dimensions (devices, countries, browsers)
- Drilling down into specific segments
Note: If you compare the chosen metric by device or segment, the result shows percentage change. Hover over a category to see exact numbers
Image widget
Show a preview image of your page group or site (JPG, PNG up to 5MB supported).
You can manually upload an image or create an image from a page group (The preview will be based on the most viewed page).
- Click 'Select a page group to get a preview' and select your page from the drop-down.
- Click 'Capture' and then 'Save to Contentsquare'.
Note: Capturing a screenshot from your site won't work if you have an add blocker on.

- Analyzing critical user flows (sign-up, checkout, onboarding)
- Identifying bottlenecks and friction points
- Prioritizing optimization efforts
Text widget
Add text to explain data, provide context or highlight key insights.
Permissions
Editors can modify or delete the Rich text widget on a dashboard Viewers can read the widget but cannot make any changes.
Recommended for:
- Adding written explanation or contextual notes directly onto the dashboard
- Guiding stakeholders on how to read the data or next steps
- Adding links to documentation or relevant dashboards
The rich text editors supports:
- Images
- Bold, italic, underline
- Bullet and numbered lists
- Hyperlinks
- Headings (H1, H2, H3)
- Text alignment (left, center, right)
- Text and background color
- Horizontal dividers
The Excel export of a text widget does not match its appearance 100% due to certain limitations in Excel's rich text processing capabilities:
- Highlight: Since Excel does not support highlighting, highlighted text will be automatically converted to colored text.
- Alignment: Text widgets are limited to a single Excel cell, and though Excel allows cell-level alignment, aligning the text widget's content is not possible.
-
Hyperlinks: Excel supports hyperlinks at the cell level, but not the text within a cell. Hyperlinks are exported as text (the link title), but are not clickable.
Create widgets from templates
You can select a widget template to automatically apply a pre-configured set of settings.
- Average scroll depth: Measure the percentage of the page users scroll down to.
- Average time on page: See how long people are spending on a specific page.
- Exit rate: Measure the percentage of users who end their sessions from the selected page.
- New vs. returning: Compare new and returning user sessions over time.
- Number of clicks: Track the number of clicks that occur on a specific page.
- Number of sessions: Track the number of sessions that contain a specific page.
- Page views with rage clicks: Track the number of views with rage clicks on a specific page.
- Page with rage clicks: Identify which pages are most frustrating and confusing.
- Rage click: Identify rage clicks over time to understand user frustration and take action to improve the user experience.

- Defining the analysis scope. If you choose to measure the performance of your metric on a page group level, you'll have the option to select a page group on the fly or a page group from a mapping.
- Selecting a device.
- Selecting or building a segment.
