Block specific IP addresses to prevent Contentsquare from collecting data from your office, testing environments, or internal teams. This keeps your analytics focused on real customer behavior.
Only users with Admin access can install and modify
IP Blocking
settings.
Read-only for other users.
Before you begin
You will need:
- Account Admin permissions in Contentsquare (only Account Admins can configure IP blocking)
- Your office's public IP address(es) or the IP addresses you want to block
Important note
You need your public IP address, not your internal network IP. Private IP addresses (starting with 10.x.x.x, 172.16.x.x, or 192.168.x.x) won't work.
Access the IP blocking settings
- Click on your profile icon.
- Click Projects and users.
-
Select IP Blocking from the left hand menu.
Configure IP blocking
You can exclude certain users, such as people in your office, by IP address. Contentsquare uses the outbound public IP address to block devices, so it's important that the IP addresses are public and not internal or private.
- Enter the IP address(s) you want to block. Add as many IPs as you want, separated by a line return.
- Click Save.
Tip
You can use wildcards to block a range of IPs. For example: 192.168.1.* blocks all IPs from 192.168.1.0 to 192.168.1.255.
What happens when you block an IP address?
Session from blocked IP addresses will not appear in Session Replays, and will not contribute towards Heatmaps. However, Surveys will still be shown to these visitors.
