Plan Availability: Sense Analyst is available as a paid add-on for customers on Pro and Enterprise plans. Account admins can start a 30-day free trial.
Sense Analyst is a Sense capability that uses generative AI to perform an in-depth analysis for you, using natural language prompts. Simply tell the analyst what you need and it'll analyze your data across multiple Contentsquare features, providing you with real-time findings and recommendations. This helps you quickly get to the root cause of user behavior issues, so you can prioritize the right fixes, improve conversion, and reduce friction, on demand.
How to access Sense Analyst
- From the main menu click ‘Sense Analyst’.
In Sense Analyst, you can explore the curated insights cards or create and ask questions!
Investigate an insight
Explore curated AI-generated insights about your site. Insights are generated weekly (by default), covering the previous week or day based on your schedule, helping you know where to focus.
When you open Sense Analyst, you will see the curated insights.
-
Review the insight cards and click on any card that interests you.
- Sense Analyst will open the conversation where the insight was generated.
- Review the analysis results Sense generates.
-
Continue with follow-up questions to refine your analysis. E.g. "Can you segment this by device type?".
You can manage your curated insight cards to keep your view focused on what matters most, hiding irrelevant insights and saving the ones you want to track. Hover over a card and click '...' to open the options.
You can:
- Dismiss a card to hide it. An undo option appears immediately after dismissal. You can optionally provide a reason for dismissing the card.
- Watch a card to save it to your ‘Watching’ section. Watched cards remain visible even when your insights are next updated. When the underlying data lapses past its refresh cycle, a watched card is shown in a grey stale state.
Both actions are per user and per project. Dismissed and watched states are not shared with other users.
Configure your curated insights
By default, only admins can configure the schedule of the curated insights.
-
Click 'Edit schedule' (the calendar icon).
-
Choose a schedule: Weekly or Daily. Weekly insights are generated on Sunday, covering the previous Sunday to Saturday.
- Click 'Save'.
- The schedule you set applies to the entire project. You can find the next update date beside the schedule icon.
Get the most from Sense Analyst
Sense Analyst works best when you provide context and specificity. Use these four components to craft questions that deliver strategic, actionable answers
1. Set the context
Start by telling Sense Analyst who you are and what you are trying to achieve. Share your role, the key metrics you care about, and your business goals.
Example: I am an eCommerce Manager. My key metric is add-to-cart rate and my goal is to reduce checkout abandonment.
2. Ask a specific question
Frame your question with relevant, specific details, such as the page, segment, device, and timeframe. If you have hypothesis, include it.
Example: Why are mobile users abandoning the checkout page more than desktop users over the past 30 days? I suspect it might be related to payment options.
3. Guide the investigation
Tell Sense Analyst how to explore the analysis or issue. Comparisons are particularly useful for uncovering root causes.
Example: Compare mobile and desktop users on the checkout page. Also compare users who completed checkout vs. those who abandoned.
4. Specify how you want results delivered
When instructing your Sense Analyst, clearly specify your desired output structure.
For example: Would a summary, an action table, or a prioritized list be the most useful format for the answer?
Tip: Not sure how to structure your analysis?
You can ask Sense Analyst to help you structure your analysis. Enter this suggested wording into the prompt box:
"Here are the questions I want to answer: [your questions]. Which modules would you analyze and what insights would you extract? Give me an actionable output format for each."
Sense will suggest which capabilities to use and how to structure your prompt for the best results.
Create and ask questions
- Enter your question or select a prompt.
- Hit enter on your keyboard.
-
Sense Analyst creates an analysis plan using multiple Contentsquare capabilities.
Understand what Sense Analyst shows you
Sense Analyst will automatically run analyses across Journey Analysis, Funnel Analysis, Zoning, Session Replay, and other capabilities. It presents findings with visual charts (funnels, journey maps, heatmaps) and explains what's happening behaviorally, not just what the numbers say.
You'll see:
- Summary of findings: A high-level answer to your question
- Visual evidence: Charts and data supporting the findings
- Behavioral insights: Explanations of what users are doing and why
-
Recommended next steps: Actions prioritized by potential impact
Example of recommended next steps from an analysis
Ask follow up questions to go deeper
The first answer is your starting point, not your conclusion. Iterate to uncover root causes and validate findings:
After the initial answer, you can ask questions. For example: How did you arrive at this conclusion?
If the generated prompt is too long or complex, ask Sense Analyst to shorten it.
Compare your data to industry benchmarks
You can ask Sense Analyst to compare your metrics to industry averages. This helps you understand if your performance is better or worse than that of similar companies.
Examples questions you can try are:
- "How does our bounce rate compare to the retail industry?"
- "What's the average conversion rate for our industry?"
- "Is our mobile page speed good compared to other financial services companies?"
Sense Analyst will automatically match your project to the right industry based on your project settings.
All benchmarks come from the Contentsquare 2026 Annual Benchmark Report, based on 6,500+ websites and Q4 2025 data.
Good to know
- Benchmark data is based on websites, not mobile apps. If you're analyzing a mobile app, the comparison may not be accurate.
- You can't filter benchmarks by specific page groups or segments. The data shows overall industry averages.
- The data is from Q4 2025 and doesn't update daily.
Save prompts for re use
Saving prompts saves you time and ensures your team is consistently analyzing what matters most.
Once you have refined a question that delivers valuable insights, save it so you can reuse it.
Sense Analyst saves prompts in two different ways depending on how you create them:
Personal prompts
- Automatically created when you click ‘Schedule a prompt’ during a conversation.
- Best for: Your own investigation and experiments
Template prompts
- Shared across your entire project (anyone in your team can use them).
- Created when you build a prompt from scratch in the templates tab (not from an active conversation).
- Best for: Standardized analyzes everyone should use.
Tip
Start by saving prompts from conversations as you refine questions. Once you've validated a prompt that delivers high-value insights, recreate it as a template prompt so your team can use it.
